for choir, soloists, piano and accordion

Birmingham Festival Choral Society

Kevin Gill: Piano

Ben de Souza: accordion

Mimi Doulton: Soprano,

Rachel Gilmore: Mezzo-Soprano

Come and hear Birmingham Festival Choral Society sing this uplifting work, written by Rossini for private performance at one of his renowned Paris musical salons.

A special feature of our concert is that the piano accompaniment will be paired with accordion, instead of the more usual harmonium. Rossini wrote the work for either combination.

The Petite Messe Solennelle was Rossini’s last major composition and his operatic melodies, colour, and drama shine through to make this one of the most popular works in the choral repertoire.
