King Edward VI High School for Girls is delighted to announce that MP and barrister, Baroness Shami Chakrabarti, CBE, PC, will be delivering our third Parents’ Association lecture, on ‘Gender Inequality in the 21st Century’.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Law degree from the London School of Economics, Baroness Chakrabarti was called to the Bar in 1994 and has worked as a barrister for the Home Office. From 2003 until 2016, she was appointed the Director of ‘Liberty’, an advocacy group which promotes civil liberties and human rights. As a campaigner for such issues, Baroness Chakrabarti has made frequent contributions to BBC Radio 4 and The Times and was shortlisted in the Channel 4 Political Awards for the "Most Inspiring Political Figure" award.
Baroness Chakrabarti has also written a series of books exploring human rights matters, including titles such as ‘Common Sense: Reflections on the Human Rights Act’, ‘On Liberty’ and ‘Of Women: In the 21st Century’.

Entrance to the site is via the KES gates on Edgbaston Park Road. To access the site for parking you will require a gate code, this will be printed on the parking permits available to book with your ticket. Please see link above.

Disabled parking is available at the rear of the Centre, and access is through the rear doors and via lift to the auditorium and foyer.
